You lost weight, then gained it back. You may have already tried getting back into sport, before giving up a few weeks or months later.

Work, lack of time, motivation, or simply a routine that's hard to stick to can quickly take over.

And this time, you want to do things differently.

You're looking for a personal trainer in Montreal to help you lose weight, but also to build a routine you can actually keep up.

Weight loss is by far the goal that comes up most in the requests I receive.

I offer two formats: sessions at the gym on the Plateau, or online coaching.

Whether you have a few pounds to lose, 20, 30, or 60 pounds and more, I adapt to your situation and your goal.

"Raphaël, I Just Need to Lose a Few Pounds"

The goal might be to get back to a shape you feel better in, build some muscle, or simply get back into physical activity.

You may have already tried on your own. You might already know which exercises to do. But managing to train consistently over the long term is a different question.

That's exactly where coaching makes sense.

We set up a meeting, talk about your situation, your challenges and your goals. I take a few measurements, we do two or three physical tests.

Once that's settled, I can put together a program that fits and support you personally in your progress, every week.

The goal is to help you get results you can see, but above all to build something you can keep up over time.

"I Want to Lose 20, 30 Pounds or More"

For Susie, my 48-year-old client, the goal was to lose 31 lb.

Losing 4 lb or having to lose 31, those are obviously two different situations. The challenges aren't the same.

I treat each person as unique. It's not just about running through a program and doing the same exercises every week.

You have to understand the person in front of you, their personal challenges, but also their relationship with exercise and any apprehensions they might have.

But in both cases, there's often the same difficulty: managing to fit exercise into daily life.

Work, obligations, and low motivation can make a regular routine hard.

That's why I won't give you exactly the same program as someone else.

We start by looking at where you are, what you've already done, and what you want to reach.

One client had already lost 88 lb and was looking to lose the last 22 to 33.

Another wanted to lose 18 lb and tone up, but without going below 132 lb.

Every program and every coaching plan is personalized, because every person is different.

Why Is It So Hard to Lose Weight Alone?

You may already know what you need to do to lose weight.

But knowing what to do and actually keeping your shape or your ideal weight over the long term isn't always the easy part.

Training can get boring. Busy days can break the rhythm. Motivation can drop over time. And when pain shows up, it gets complicated fast.

Some people have also already tried several things: boxing, group classes, or different programs online, without success.

And sometimes, they've already managed to lose a lot of weight.

One client had lost 88 lb before writing to me: "I've lost a lot, I still need to lose more, but I've plateaued."

In that case, the problem isn't necessarily doing more exercise.

You have to look at what's been done so far, what's working and what's stuck.

That's where I can build a program that fits your situation and get your weight-loss progress moving again.

No Time for the Gym? Online Coaching Can Fit Your Schedule Too

Work hours, kids, the unexpected. You may not have time to come to the gym several times a week.

Online coaching lets you train remotely with a personalized program, the same way as in the gym.

The people who choose it weren't necessarily looking to do more sessions, or even a coach to motivate them. What they mostly needed was a personalized plan and follow-up to improve the quality of their training.

And above all, to be able to train at home or at work, thanks to video calls.

You've Never Played Sports? You Can Still Start

Never played sports? That's not a problem.

Some of the people I train are starting from zero, and that's genuinely fine.

Others had simply stopped for several years. Starting again is sometimes hard too. But it's worth it.

In that case, I understand your relationship with exercise and build a program designed for you.

We look at your level, your experience, your goals, and what can be put in place without rushing.

The program evolves with your performance, your preferences, and your new goals.

Weight-Loss Program With a Personal Trainer: How It Works

The First Coaching Session

We start with an assessment session to take stock and set the goals.

I try to understand what you've done before, since when you stopped or why you never really started, what you can do today, and whether there's any discomfort in your shoulder, a knee, and whether you've had injuries in the past.

That tells me where you're starting from before we begin and, as mentioned, lets me personalize the approach. This will be your program, 100% adapted.

The Food Plan, With No Restrictive Diet

Weight loss isn't just about the training sessions.

When needed, your program can also include a nutrition plan.

The goal is to build a plan tailored to you, both on food and on training, based on your body and your goals.

Here too, we think in terms of rebalancing your diet for a complete approach to weight loss. Not a restrictive diet.

Follow-Up Between Check-Ins

Follow-up lets us see how you're progressing and adjust the program if needed.

It also helps keep you on track, keep you motivated, and show you that the work is paying off and that you're going to reach your goal.

We usually do this every six weeks.

Personal Trainer in Montreal or Online

I offer two types of training for my clients: private coaching at the gym on the Plateau, or online coaching.

If you want to come train with me in Montreal, we'll work side by side at my gym for in-person sessions.

If you'd rather train from home, if your schedule is tight, or if you live far from Montreal, online sessions offer the same quality of training, with the same intensity, but remotely. I'm with you for the whole session, with the same energy as at the gym.

I coach people from France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Canada, no problem at all, through the online offer.

Results are excellent with both formats.

In both cases, the program is personalized, with follow-up and support suited to your level, your goals and your progress.

What Our Clients Say

Questions Before You Start

How much does a personal trainer for weight loss cost in Montreal?

$50 for a one-hour session at the gym. $50 for a 30-minute session online, about $400 a month at two sessions a week. The program and its progression are included in both formats, and the food plan when your goal is weight.

Is the gym membership included?

No. Gym sessions take place at MFitness and the membership is paid directly to the gym, on top of the sessions. I mention it right away because it's what trips people up most often.

How many sessions a week?

The plan I sell is two sessions a week. Some people come once a week and train on their own the rest of the time, with the program I build for them.

Where do the sessions take place?

At MFitness, 4200 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, on the Plateau. Not at home. If you can't get there, online sessions happen from wherever you are.

I have pain or an injury, can I still start?

The first session is about finding out what's possible: I look at what's affected, how it happened, and whether the movement is still possible. I don't diagnose. If what I see is beyond my scope, I tell you and ask you to see a doctor before going further.

Do I have to follow a diet?

No. When needed, your program includes a nutrition plan built around your body and your goals. We think in terms of rebalancing your diet, not a restrictive diet.

How often do you check in?

Usually every six weeks. We retake weight and measurements, look at what moved and what didn't, and adjust the program from there.
